Growing roses can be an activity the entire family can enjoy.Learn More >>
The Greater Rochester Rose Society was established in 1919, and is affiliated with the American Rose Society. We are one of the oldest continually-meeting societies of amateur rosarians in the country. During its history, the society has been honored at the local, state, and national levels for outstanding instruction on rose culture.
Growing the rose, our national flower, is a wonderful hobby. Whether a person has one rose, or one hundred, there is always something new to be learned and shared about good methods of rose-growing. A select group of members, recognized by the American Rose Society as "Consulting Rosarians", are willing and able to answer questions and give advice about rose-growing.
The Greater Rochester Rose Society holds public seminars at the Maplewood Rose Garden in May, July, and October, and during the Maplewood Rose Festival in June. Additionally, the Society sponsors an annual rose show in June, where roses are displayed, and members are available to answer questions about rose-growing horticulture. For more information, see our events page, or attend one of our regular meetings.
